And still more

Sleeper service from London to Aberdeen was a great way to go! Still the old equipment but comfortable non the less. Arrived at Euston to find class 86 001 Sir William Stanier at the buffers having acted as pilot (presumably) to bring in the empty stock. I know I've ridden behind this locomotive before…somewhere way back! This locomotive class was originally in 1965 for service on the newly (then) opened electrified section of the west coast mainline.

On the front of the 15 car long train was a class 91 electric. These were built during the 1980's for the East Coast Mainline electrification.

The lounge car was comfortable and rapidly filled up with other US tourists! Drink selection was excellent. Food, however, was limited to a few cold sandwiches. Disappointing, to say the least. Not sure if there was supposed to be a hot food option. Either equipment failure or the beginnings of a work to rule industrial action may be wnt the equipment was missing. Hopefully the issues with the introduction of new equipment will be resolved soon and this venerable train will receive a much needed upgrade.
